First Holy Communion 2023

Preparation sessions and First Holy Communion arrangements for children in Year 4 during the 2022-23 school year will be communicated with parents throughout the academic year.

First Holy Communion 2022

On Saturday 11th June, 2022. Year 4 children from our school received Jesus for the first time in our Mass to celebrate First Holy Communion.

Introduction to The Holy Mass

First Reconciliation

On Thursday 9th December, 2022, our children taking part in the First Holy Communion Programme, took part in their First Reconciliation with Fr Colm and Br Paul. It was especially poignant during the season as Advent as the children prepare for the arrival of Jesus.

Preparation Sessions & Masses

St Thomas More  follows the new First Holy Communion programme implemented in 2011 by the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle.  Preparation sessions are held throughout the year and end with the First Holy Communion Mass and celebration.

Our Sessions this year include:

  • First Reconciliation with Fr Colm in School
  • Parental Information Session at 6.30pm on Thursday 27th January at St Joseph’s Church to explain the First Holy Communion programme for this year
  • Father Colm will celebrate Mass on Sunday 6th February at 3pm. This will be a special Mass where the sections are explained as it is being celebrated in order to further develop your understanding of the Mass.
