About Mini Vinnies

Mini Vinnies are a worldwide group for primary school children, developed by the St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP).  Mini Vinnies are encourage to see Christ in themselves and others through prayer, discussion and looking at social issues.  Please click the links above for further information about Mini Vinnies and St Vincent de Paul.

Mini Vinnies at St Thomas More are a group of Year 5 and 6 children who meet regularly to learn more about prayer and the importance of practical works.  The children are supported by Mr Hunt.

Each meeting starts with a prayer, a scripture reading and a discussion/reflection on the readings.  The Mini Vinnies discuss how they can help others, family, friends, the local community and people in need, particularly those in developing countries.

Our Mini Vinnies also hold a weekly lunchtime prayer club in our Prayer Garden

The Work of Our Mini Vinnies 2022-23

Defibrillator Fundraising

During the 2021/22 school year, the Mini Vinnies worked hard to fundraise for a community defibrillator to be installed in our school. The Mini Vinnies were concerned that there wasn’t one close to our school. Through bake sales, sponsored runs and giving out leaflets, the children managed to raise enough money to work with The Red Sky Foundation to successfully install a community defibrillator.

Ukraine Maternity Unit Appeal

After hearing about a lack of supplies in maternity units in Ukraine, the Mini Vinnies decided to act by setting up donation stations and arranging for these to be sent to Ukraine to help.
